Goal:
Through its nonprofit wing, Atrium Health—part of the Advocate Health system—runs the Cancer Patient Support Program: counseling, art therapy, and a variety of services that help people cope with the emotional and immense weight of cancer, all free. This film was built as a fundraising tool—a way to share real patient stories that move people to give, and to help donors understand just how vital the program is. Because nearly everyone has either faced cancer or walked beside someone who has.
Partnership:
These were incredibly personal stories, with people willing to share deeply vulnerable moments. So we purposely kept a small crew in a secluded setting, with an extended, conversational format designed to honor the emotion and vulnerability people brought to the room. That environment gave each person the space and safety to share.
Outcome:
A film that turns a worthy cause into a personal one. By centering on the personal stories it gives donors something no statistic can – a face, a story, and a clear line between their generosity and someone’s ability to get through the hardest season of their life. It shows exactly what that support makes possible.
